harmonic dissonance | Laura Mo (12)

the voices wail at her

and they scream horrendous things

pushing

haunting

suffocating

she hears the demon

laughing maniacally

as he slowly rusts the metal of the chains

that were supposed

to bind him to tartarus

he slams against them and they clink

painfully and repeatedly

the chains are worn

he's nearly out

and his howls and roars

scrape her mind

she hears the little ones

clapping with glee

teasing and mocking

escaped

from the bars she locked them in

they point fingers

smirking with their freedom

as they tauntingly sing

and their snickers and sneers

crowd her mind

she hears the titans

stomping the grounds

flattening her thoughts

as their booming voices

drown out her own

they were supposed to hold the sky

stuck beneath their shoulders

but they forced it onto her

and now

they run free

and their rumbles and grumbles

fill her mind

they’re so close,

so close..

so close….

flooding

excruciating

agonizing

her monsters jeer at her

while she tries to block them out

together, they make a melody

or an elegy, perhaps

from the request of their beloved conductor:

herself.
