Stars twinkling in the dark night,

Laughter chiming up the street,

Couples fight,

Families greet,

At least they have someone.

My soul weeps,

A smile plastered,

My neck shivers as the darkness creeps,

Deceit I have mastered,

Why does it hurt so much to be unseen?

Woe is a feeling of belonging,

Happiness is a feeling of love.

All I feel like is crying,

I have knowingly clipped the feathers of my dove.

I want to know how it feels to matter to someone.
