In the midst of an ominous, foreboding, room,
Beheld a cauldron, filled with gloom
Four elements: fire, water, earth, and air,to mix philosophy with science, one might dare
Originated from earlier crews,
Egypt, Greece, India, to name a few
Nicholas Flammel, a notable one
Philosopher’s stone, more valued than the sun
What resulted, some may ask
Medicine, chemistry, metallurgy, quite a task
Silver and copper turned into gold,
Is it real? Truths untold
Extending life, curing disease
Medieval medicines were displeased
Sought after was infinite youth,
Researched and worked, nail and tooth
O’er the time, it slowly died,
For coins were copied, not one abied
Counterfeit ran rampant, money was copied
Now outlawed, alchemy was disembodied.
