This piece of art is trying to recreate the feeling of Anemoia. I think everyone by this time has seen or heard of a liminal setting, like the liminal pool. When you look at that photo one of the fist thoughts that popup is 'woah that's creepy,' but there's a reason you think that, it's because you've seen a place like that and you know what its supposed to look like: bustling with people. Now the creepiness comes from the fact that there's nothing there, it's too unnatural but the fact still stands. You feel like you have been here and feel nostalgia even though there's no way you could be in Anemoia. With these photos i chose places where everyone has gone too, a school hallway, a school staircase and took some photos with no one there, then cranked up the editing and made them look like this. Hopefully the same Anemoia filled creepiness reaches my audience.

"The theme of this piece revolves around a child from the distant future experiencing anemoia for our present day. While the word carries an almost solemn connotation, I wanted to place a more whimsical spin on this word rather than creating a more solemn piece, thus I used brighter colors and more expressive characters. My inspiration for this piece came from common tropes about the future and time traveling. Another inspiration for this piece came from what I rationally thought would happen if a normal person saw a time traveller, which is reflected in the expressions of my two older characters in the piece."

"I aimed to capture the concept of anemoia, defined by a feeling of nostalgia for a time period that a person has never actually experienced. As the focal point of my drawing, I illustrated a girl looking into the night wishing for change in her life. I used the umbrella as a visual representation of her comfort zone that she is trying to disentangle herself from. The sky displays the world around her she is trying to get away from. The music notes floating through the air act as her connection to a brighter future, escaping a past era.
Even though she is physically present in the moment on the street, her mind is experiencing an aspiration based on the version of herself during a time she never knew. This adds depth to the definition of anemoia because the music acts like a time machine, transporting her to a life that feels better than her own. By showing her holding the umbrella while looking toward the mysterious sky, it represents the middle stage of wanting to leave a shielded life to find where you truly belong. She utilizes the past to enhance her future including the metaphorical musical time machine to a better version of herself. "

"I created this piece to show a combination of a modern day girl and a dinosaur at the same time. This represents her anemoia, as in real life she would never be able to interact with dinosaurs, but in this drawing she gets to help one from the rain. I want the viewer to feel relieved and relaxed since this story that I drew has a happy ending. I got inspired by my dinosaur stuffed animal, and decided to show the girl longing all the way back during the Mesozoic Period."
