Good Morning | Marla Pinchot

Rise and shine.

You’ve had a long day, week, month

And surely you don’t think

This day will be mine.

Isn’t that the point of sleep?

To refresh your mind

From your thoughts so deep?

And when you awake you feel fine

Until your troubles creep up on you

And attack you from behind?

Maybe the trouble is not the day

But rather how you see it.

Realize that things are different than before

Rather than to quit.

Look upon,

And see that the frost-damaged flowers

Are not yet gone.

They bloom and live on.

You feel the feisty morning air, and jump to the sky,

A sting that makes you spring

And feel alive.

Breathe it in, and breathe out your burdens.

Be inspired on this day to do more.

For the past will be dead where you left it

And will not burden you anymore.

The day is new.

Take it.
