Line


I drew a line in the sand

It curved a little, spiked around

I was generous, I was kind

I tended to my line, boxed myself in


You saw a line in the sand

Took it as a challenge, a game

One touch, one millimeter

Closer, closer--


I retract casually,

Pushed to the shore.

The ocean sings, and

I dive.


Sinking


Pink waves ripple above me.

I hear crashes and currents,

Muffled by submersion.

I look down

And surrender.


An ocean inside now;

Raging, relentless,

Tugging life away.

I try to escape her.

It’s too late, I chose this.


Floating peacefully,

Up, up, up,

Calm...
