Core Memory | Lindsey Weinberg (10)

Updated: Apr 27, 2022

Bittersweet is

when you are playing in the snow

with your best friend

for hours on a snow day,

coming inside for a cup of hot chocolate

giggling about everything and anything.

Then realize it was all just a memory

and now on snow days you are studying

or staring at your phone,

and you are no longer friends with that best friend

who once sat in the snow to create a happy snowman.

Bittersweet is

going to the pool with your friends,

all day you are in bright summer sun

laughing and splashing.

Then later in the day, going inside

and you are all bright red.

But now it's winter

and everyone is sad and cold

trying to get back to the days

when you could sit outside all day.

Bittersweet is

growing up

and everything that once happened

becomes a core memory.
