“Love at first sight.” “Opposites Attract.” “Love conquers all.”
I have yet to have an acquaintance with relationships.
But that doesn’t mean I’m inexperienced.
Being the third party I’m to give good advice with (usually) good sportsmanship. So, Let me tell you what I know from my so-so experience.
You’ll get the chocolate and flowers on Valentine’s Day. And you’ll be sitting in a mound of confections.
Then you’ll get the card and the cake on your special day. The happiness radiating from you will be infectious.
As the sugar is perpetually poured on you, it starts to break skin.
And you begin to wonder,
could it actually be salt thrown in?
It begins to sting, and then you know.
Your sugar high,
has become a bitter low.
BUT. No need to fear.
All breakups are bittersweet. At least that’s what I hear.
You’ve loved and you’ve learned.
And that’s what counts.
See, now look at the new leaf you turned. You’ll find “the one”
as soon as they come ‘round.
Back to the top with my old love cliches. Which to believe?
And which will betray?
It doesn’t really matter. As long as you know:
There will be ups and downs. There will be bitters and sweets. So don’t depend on the quotes
to conquer your relationship feats.
